ABOUT ME
Ever since I could hold a pencil, I've been writing. When I was 10 years old I began writing a diary to 'Dear Minnie' (my first diary had Minnie Mouse on it) and I still addressed all my thoughts and feelings to her by age 18. During my teenage years, I added poetry into the mix, to capture all my angst in all its symbolism and grace.
I continue to write in my career as a social researcher, loving the extensive documentation of reports and the impact of shorter articles and opinions. I have published on platforms such as ThePrint, India Development Review, the Huffington Post (India) before it shut down and contributed research findings to the Equality and Human Rights Commission's triennial review on 'How fair is Britain'. I've worked in the Netherlands, UK and India in areas such as the voice of teachers in education, educational assessment, democracy, citizenship, service delivery, women's safety and urban governance. You can see a full list of all my social research writing here.
As a passion, I have always continued to write many stories, especially for children, and after some encouraging feedback, I've decided to write and publish more. You can find out about my books here.
I grew up in the Netherlands, have studied and worked in the UK and I'm now living in Bangalore, India with my husband and young son. I absolutely love reading and on this site you'll also find what's on my reading pile. Besides writing and reading, I have an intense love of martial arts, with two black belts to my name! I do believe it's rather fitting that the back of me features on the back of a published book on kickboxing. I offer a prize to anyone who can find out which book it is!
I hope you enjoy this site! Do get in touch with any feedback.
